Meeting in a public place is a good choice since it is a safe location. As for overcoming your nervousness, try talking on the phone once before you meet him. You'll become familiar with his voice and will get to know him a little more before meeting, both of which will help on the first date. Also, think of a few topics to talk about before you go. Hopefully the conversation will flow smoothly, but having a few topics in mind will help just in case there is a pause in the conversation. Try and have fun and remember that you have nothing to lose by having coffee with someone. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: Rick FulksThanks for comment about non-chain coffee shops. I agree they are often more cozy than the chain stores. Good suggestion!
-- Contributed by: Rick Fulkssomeone from online service (singleparentdate com) asked me out to have a couple of coffee, but i am really a little nervous. I am afraid of what will happen and also a little expectation about it
-- Contributed by: Kate55I recommend scouting out a few coffee shops before you ask anyone out on a first date. Some smaller non-chain style coffee houses offer little nooks with couches and cushy chairs for a relaxed conversation in a home-like atmosphere - creating a great opportunity to get to know someone new.
