Many of the newest articles we have on Dating are on finding the perfect gift for your partner. What is the best gift that your partner gave you and why was it so special?

I don’t have one ‘special’ gift that stands out for me. The reason is that my partner chooses gifts that are so personal to me, as corny as this will sound, he makes my wishes come true.

Examples - he has given me acting lesson, motorcyle lessons, a personal shopper experience, diving certification. Trust me the list goes on.

For me, what makes his gift so special is they are the things I won’t buy for myself, even though the on things that are on my bucket list (if you will).

Lori, I’m glad to hear that your experience verifies some of the things I’ve been writing about gift-giving on the Dating site. Things that are experiential, and are things you wouldn’t get for yourself - perfect!

My best gift is a bit of a curse, to be honest. My last girlfriend got me a very expensive (for me) and very nice watch. I love that watch. It feels good on my wrist, looks good, and is one of my most treasured possessions. I would never have spent that much myself, but it’s a luxury that makes me feel really good.

But it’s also a constant reminder of her, and a bit of a downer. Especially since I had commissioned a matching bracelet from a local jeweler that matched the watch, to give to her…but we broke up before it was completed. Of course, since it was commission, I still had to buy it, and now it sits in a drawer.

So “best gifts” can be a double-edged sword, in my experience.
