Recently a friend shared that she reconnected with a guy she knew from high school through Facebook. Now they’re dating and in love. A recent post from one of my Facebook friends tells of a similar story. I am wondering if others are having similar experiences of reconnecting with old classmates, friends, and childhood crushes and discovering the time is right for romance? |

While I don’t know anyone who has actually found love on facebook by reconnecting with people from the past, I have seen old classmates trying to stir up some love with a friend of mine. A part of me thinks that it’s that some people have been able to up their self-confidence since high school and now they are more forward, which brings on new relationship possibilities. |

I do know of quite a few people who have tried to hook up with past crushes and flames via facebook - but none who have had them turn into lasting relationships. I think that while it’s true that the “older” versions of ourselves may have more confidence and self-assuredness, there are usually also so many other changes that the original spark (not to mention the teen hormones) won’t actually be there. I’ve personally found facebook a very easy way to maintain a friendly and cordial contact with my ex-girlfriends, though. There is enough of a barrier to keep it from getting too awkward, and there’s no need to worry about flirting or the like. |
