Things to Say to Make Women Laugh

Having things to say to make women laugh is a good idea for prospective suitors. If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, it's just as likely that the way to a woman's is through her sense of humor.

One of the reasons laughter works so well to break down the barriers between people is because it is an authentic moment. Genuine laughter is unguarded, a moment when something is so absurd you can't help but express your feelings by laughing. In that moment, you let people see a bit of yourself. In a way, laughing is a measure of vulnerability, and if you can get a woman to laugh, it is a sign that she is feeling safe and trusts you enough to share that happy moment with you.

• If conversation is going well

"You know, this has been one of the most enjoyable conversations I've had in weeks. Mind if we start over? I'd like to experience it again." Then leave, walk up to her, and introduce yourself again, as if for the first time.

• After she says something particularly witty

Feign a romantic French accent and say, "Oh you are zee dee-LIGHTful! Je t'adore! Je te window! Whatever I am, you go right through me!"

• After none of the above works

"OK, obviously I need to work on my funny. Please allow me to start over, Hi, my name is…" Then continue speaking without trying to make her laugh.

That last suggestion is probably the most important. If you are trying hard to make her laugh, then it will smack of desperation – as if you read an article somewhere that said the way to a woman's heart is by making her laugh.

Instead, you are best served by being yourself and sharing the things you find amusing with her. If she finds them amusing too, then you both are beginning to find common ground for a relationship. A much safer way to use the power of laughter to get closer to a woman would be to leave it to the professionals. In other words, the number one thing to say to make a woman laugh might be: "I have two tickets to the comedy club. Want to go have a few laughs with me?"
