Sweet Things to Say to Your Girlfriend
From LoveToKnow Dating
If you're like every other guy out there, you're probably searching for uniquely sweet things to say to your girlfriend. The ultimate goal of any guy who's truly in love is to sweep her off of her feet. By choosing your words carefully, you'll be able to express to your girlfriend that she really is the center of your universe.
Coming Up With Sweet Things to Say to Your Girlfriend
Since the beginning of time, men and women have always searched for better ways to say, "I love you." Poets, songwriters, and novelists spent centuries attempting to capture, in words, this depth of feeling and powerful emotion. Still, love remains as an emotion so overwhelming, so fragile, and at times so fleeting, that mere words could never capture its true meaning.
Learn About Love from Literature
Robert Browning, William Shakespeare, and even Edgar Allen Poe have all tried mightily to produce written texts that reflect the wonder and the mystery of love. Of anyone, they are certainly the ones who were most capable, so they should be the first place you turn to find the right words. Search through the following poems and prose, and find words that strike you as an authentic reflection of how you feel about your girlfriend. Print out the poem and take it with you on your date with her. Then, when the mood is reflective and relaxed, pull out the poem and start reading those words to her as you glance at her above the soft glow of the candlelight.

Write Your Own Poem
While the thought of putting pen to paper and penning your own words of love may send waves of fear up and down your spine, it isn't as difficult or as scary as many guys think. There are basic elements of a love poem that can help you design and write your own simple creation. Just relax, breath deeply, and allow yourself to experience every emotion that you have for this woman who's at the center of your life. Once you're ready, follow the guidelines below to create your own love poem.
- Using alliteration - Alliteration is when you start every word in the sentence with the same letter. It sounds silly, but it can add a lot of style and a bit of humor to your prose. For example, in your poem, throw in a sentence like, "Life left little luck for a lost and lonely loser like Lester." (Assuming your name is Lester!)
- Use a metaphor - These are those statements that compare one thing to another. For example, "Then you looked at me with those green eyes, those emerald oceans."
- Repetition - Repetition works well in a love poem. For example, insert the phrase, "And then you loved me," between every other sentence as you describe the story of your life together.
- Rhyme - Remember, poems only had to rhyme in grade school. Once you graduate to real poetry, rhyme is optional. However, if you choose not to rhyme, make sure that your sentences still have the same rhythm or syllable "beat."
- Simile - A simile is great to use, here and there, but don't overdo it. For example, throw in something like, "I could feel your heart beat as fast as a hummingbird's wings."
Most importantly, just let the feelings that you have for her flow down your arm, along the pen, and onto the paper. Don't force the words out, just let them flow and express how you really feel. If you're sincere in opening up your heart to her, that sincerity will shine through in those kind words that you read to her. That's all that matters. Throughout history, some of the most sincere, yet worst-written poems, have won over the hearts of women.
