Small Romantic Gifts
From LoveToKnow Dating
While you may not consider yourself to be the romantic type, it's still pretty simple to give small romantic gifts to someone special in your life. It doesn't take a lot of expense. It just takes a little time and thought.
What is Romantic?
Something that is romantic to you might not be very special to someone else. When considering what will be romantic for your loved one, you have think about what they value and what their expectations are. A simple gesture, a comment or even a soft touch can be romantic to someone.
Ideas for Small Romantic Gifts
- Coupons for your time, assistance or affection. Often, you can find these coupon books already prepared and ready for you to give your special someone. However, to make it more personalized (and more romantic), you can create your own coupons. They can be to help out on household chores, for hugs and kisses (or other tender moments) or for anything else your sweetie has been wanting. You could create a booklet of coupons for a combination of all of these things.
- A special photo album, scrapbook or framed picture or collage. Photographs capture special moments in our lives and help us to retain them forever. Select one photograph that is special and create a gift around this. If you create an album or scrapbook using many pictures, it would be a nice touch to write within it why this picture is special to you. If you don't have many pictures of the two of you together, you can take a photograph of somewhere or something special to the both of you. Another option is to frame a memento or souvenir of a trip you took together or an event you attended as a couple. You may have to use a shadow box frame for this, depending on the size of the memento.
- Feed your sweetie-pie. Prepare a special meal that is just for them. If your loved one is a big fan of a particular restaurant, pick food up from there. If they have a favorite homemade meal, fix it for them. Pack a picnic for the two of you featuring your significant other's favorite foods.
- Make a gift of philanthropy in his or her name. If your date has a favorite charity, make a contribution to it for them. Another option is to pick some lesser-known charity and contribute to it for them. Pick a cause you think your loved one has a passion for and support it.
- Name a star for your sweetheart. For just a little over $50 you can have a star named for your significant other. Not only will they know there's a star named for them, but they will also get a star chart and information about their very own star.
- Flowers and candy. You can go the traditional route here, or you can be a little more unique. Pick wildflowers. Buy a rosebush instead of a dozen roses. Instead of buying a box of chocolates, you can customize M&M's to say something special. If you'd rather, you can also have chocolate bars customized, too.
- Jewelry. Jewelry is always romantic, but personalized jewelry is even better. You can find affordably priced sterling silver jewelry on a number of online sites. However, for a bit higher price, you can have a piece of jewelry created for your loved one. Just visit your local jeweler and ask about this option.
The main point of small romantic gifts is that they are thoughtful, chosen for the person and from the heart. They don't have to be expensive, elaborate or extravagant. This type of a gift just shows how much you know about your sweetheart and how much you pay attention. The more personalized and unexpected the gift can be, the more romantic it is. It may take a little thought to come up with the perfect gift, but the end result of pleasing your loved one is well worth it.
