What Is A Shemale?
For those of you who don’t know, a Shemale is a woman inside a man’s body. A pre-operative Shemale has a man’s genitalia but likely appears very feminine, both in facial appearance and emotional make-up. A Shemale likely has larger breasts than a man, either from surgery or by taking female hormones. You could say that a Shemale is a woman who was born in a man’s body and is taking steps to become a physical woman.
The word Shemale is actually considered derogatory and is usually attributed to the porn industry. A real Shemale considers herself a female or a transsexual.
What Kinds of Shemales Are There?
There are three kinds of transsexuals:
- Pre-op Transexual
- Post-op Transexual
- Non-op Transexual
Pre-op means the person is planning on having sexual reassignment surgery; a sex-change operation. Post-op means the surgery has been performed; the male genitals have been removed and replaced with female genitals. Non-op means the person does not plan on having sex-change surgery.
Why Make The Change?
The desire to have sexual reassignment surgery is because the transsexual feels trapped inside the wrong body. She feels like a woman, she acts like a woman and may even look like a woman, but her body is still male.
Imagine being a Boston Red Sox’s fan but forced to wear a Yankee jersey all day, every day. You identify with the Red Sox, you may even love the Red Sox, but the world thinks you’re a Yankee because of your appearance. You too might want to have surgery to remove the Yankee uniform and have it replaced with a Red Sox jersey—if surgery was the only way to make the change.
Is it Ok to Be Attracted?
If you find yourself attracted to a transsexual, it may lead to confusing feelings. Focus on what caused you to become attracted in the first place. Was it appearance, or the way she talks, or maybe how she acts? Often a transsexual will be very feminine acting, which appeals to many men. She may even seem more feminine than some females you know. Don’t automatically dismiss the possibility of a relationship just because she is a transsexual. Share your feelings with her, think about your own feelings, and maybe seek guidance from someone that you trust.
How to Date a Shemale
There are no special rules for dating a transsexual. Like any woman, she will want to have fun on dates and talk to learn more about you.
- Talk about how you feel dating a transsexual—just don’t let the subject dominate every conversation. If you did not realize she was a transsexual before meeting, obviously the subject will come up. Explain your interest in her but also your apprehension, if you have concerns. It could be that with further explanation of the situation, you will feel more comfortable and ready to explore the possibility of a relationship. But once any concerns have been addressed, there is no need to keep bringing it up.
How to Find a Transsexual
If you would like to find a transsexual to date, try using the following websites:

-- Contributed by: Ramakant NevseJack, thanks for the comment and glad you liked the article. I understand Shemale is considered offensive which is why I mentioned this in the article. The title was chosen because most people use the term shemale. While the title does continue the offensiveness, I attempted to educate readers so that they won't continue to use the word.
-- Contributed by: Rick FulksGood articles, however there is one problem. The word "shemale" is a bit offensive to the Transgender community. Other than that a worthwhile article. Also check out Transgenderdate.com for free tg personals worldwide.
