For example, if you purchased a DVD your sweetie really loves and still watches once and a while, maybe it's time to buy another one of the same genre. However, if you just bought it last year, you should probably go with something else. Buying the same type of present each year does not only get boring but also can make you seem thoughtless.

If you are really stumped and just can't think of anything romantic and unusual for your sweetheart, ask a friend. Friends are great sources of information because your partner may have already discussed with the friend what he or she might like for this specific occasion.
If friends are unavailable or they don't have a clue either, try asking family members. Family members have been buying gifts for your sweetheart for years.

Now that you have some ideas on unusual romantic gifts to get your sweetie, you can use the Internet to find them, especially if you looking for rare items. If you are looking for vintage such as an old concert poster or old-fashioned toy, eBay is a great place to look. This auction site has many individuals selling things right from the boxes in their attic and someone could possibly have what you are looking for.
Sometimes music and movies do not make it to the next generation of technology such as CD or DVD. If you know your sweetie would like a tape or VHS not made into CD or DVD, you can see about either buying a tape player or VCR with the specific media so your sweetie can enjoy it. This may take some extra legwork but it will surely show your thoughtfulness.
Material Items are Not Always the Perfect Gift
You don't have to always resort to buying something for your sweetheart. You can just as easily plan a trip or an outing that is just as unique. Your sweetie may not enjoy going to the beach, the park, or other classic romantic site, but he or she may like a special show playing downtown or a new restaurant that just opened up. If you know your partner loves Thai food and hasn't had it in a long time, find a Thai food restaurant or make some for dinner.
Going the Extra Mile Shows You Care
Even if you don't find the perfect gift, the thought you put into one is enough to impress your love. For example, if you decide to make an exotic type of food that your partner loves but it doesn't exactly turn out to be delicious, don't feel too bad. Your partner is sure to understand that you tried your best and think its sweet you tried and even thought of doing it.
