How to Know When People Are Attracted to You

While there is no pure litmus test for gauging someone’s attraction to you, you can test the waters between you for a rise in temperature. Personal space, for example, offers you one way to test the person's level of attraction. As a general rule, people don’t like to have their personal space invaded unless an emotional bond already exists (parents, children, spouse, close friends). When a man or a woman is attracted to someone else, they enjoy those moments of personal space invasion, the chance to catch a closer scent. So if you’re wondering if he or she is attracted to you, invade the person's personal space casually and watch the reaction. A casual invasion of personal space may be:

Brushing up close to reach for something just behind the person
Sidling closer in a crowded elevator
Leaning your face near the person to see something on the computer

Notice if the person objects to you being there or does he or she seem to enjoy it?

Touching

Touching is a greater invasion of personal space and it should only be attempted if you’re first casual invasion was well-received. If, for example, you stood close in the elevator and they didn’t lean away, try to brush the person's hand lightly. Again, keep the touch casual. How does the person react? Positive reactions include not pulling away or removing his or her hand entirely. If the person turns his or her hand over or returns the touch, that’s a very good sign.

Pay Attention to How He or She Dresses

How does the person look when you see him or her? When a person is attracted to another person, they always try to look his or her best. People with an attraction dress well, they groom well and they smell great. You may see the person in the office or at the gym, but he or she has a care with their appearance. Consider for a moment how well you groom yourself when you want to attract attention. To test this theory you can:

Comment on the person's apparel. If the person begins to wear similar items or the same item around you, it’s a sign.
Mention how much you like a certain scent. Take note if he or she starts wearing it.
Disparage a certain color if you don’t like it. If they stop wearing that color, it’s a good sign.

Listen to Their Conversation

While you may think this is an obvious thing to do, a lot of people only hear what they want to hear if they are looking for a specific reaction. If you want to know how to know when people are attracted to you, then you have to hear what they are talking about.

Do they talk about a boyfriend or a girlfriend?
Do they make sexist remarks?
Do they talk to you like their buddy?
Do they ask you for advice about how to hit it off with someone else?
Are they flirting with you or is that how they talk to everyone?

Chances are, if you answer these questions truthfully, you’ll know how if that person is attracted to you or not.
