Free Romance Ideas

From LoveToKnow Dating

Free romance ideas are available every day and in every way. They are simple ways to express the love and care you have for your significant other.

I Love You

Simple Love: Free Romance Ideas

Romantic rituals began as free romance ideas that express thoughtful emotion when your partner is there and when they are away. The best romance is also the simplest.

  • Look at your partner when he or she is talking to you.
  • Never forget to tell your partner you love him or her.
  • Hold hands when you are walking, sitting, or just talking.
  • Kiss when saying "goodnight" and "hello".
  • Casual notes, text messages, and emails let your loved one know you are thinking of him or her.

Reach Out and Touch

Touch is a vital part of our communication. Consider romantic gestures and ideas as a guide to communicating closeness. When you touch your partner's shoulder or brush a finger down his or her cheek, you are reminding your partner that he or she is not alone.

Say "Thank You"

Too often, a partner can be taken for granted. Saying "thank you" is a simple way to express caring and thoughtfulness. Saying "thank you" acknowledges what your partner does, says and feels. It lets him or her know you recognize actions and that you appreciate them. Whether you are thanking your loved one for taking out the trash, making dinner or remembering your birthday, it’s important for you to say it and for him or her to hear it.

Listen to Your Loved One

Listening to your partner is an art. Your boyfriend or girlfriend is more likely to confide in you if you demonstrate that you can listen. You don’t have to agree with it, you don’t have to fix it and you don’t have to respond to it, but you do need to listen. Your significant other's words are important. By listening, you demonstrate (romantically and practically) that he or she is important to you.

Write Love Letters

Words are among the best free romance ideas. You write them down, create them and choose where and how to use them. A love letter is a wonderful thing to write to your boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse. You can also leave him or her love notes where he or she is sure to find them. If your significant other travels a great deal, tuck a love note into luggage. If your loved one has to take time to study every day, tuck one into his or her laptop, book or carry bag. Another great place is to tuck the note into the person's car. The unexpected note will elicit a loving smile and let your loved one know you are thinking about him or her.

Catch a Falling Star

Stargazing is a romantic hobby and a wonderful way to spend time together. The Universal Star Council and Star Registry let you purchase a star or stars that you can name and give to the person you love. Take the idea one step further and give him or her a story to go with that star. Greek mythology tales speak of lovers that ended up as constellations, so give your love a story set against the stars.

Romantic Word Plays

Pull out old board games and change the rules a little for some romantic fun. For example, in Scrabble you can play only romantic words. Make it more of a challenge, use the word romantically in a sentence. You can pull out the Uno cards and change the rules so the draw 4 means you have to give your partner a massage, draw 2 requires a hug, and a reverse direction means you pass with a kiss.

Make Romance Last

Romance lasts as long as you or your partner makes the effort to communicate, touch and be romantic. You can find romance in a look, a touch, a gesture, a kiss and a word. Discover what romance is and create a little romance of your own.
