Dating Idea

From dating

One of the challenges of dating is coming up with a great dating idea. You likely have a few spots that you can always count on to take a date, but wouldn’t it be so much better if you expanded your horizons a little? Read on for some quick and easy date ideas.

Dating Idea: Free Dates

The best dates are quite often the ones you can do for free. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Hiking: This works especially well if you have a decent trail nearby. If the trail is rather isolated, don’t go hiking on your first date.
  • Picnic: This romantic idea is always sure to please. The key to a good picnic is remembering the little details such as bringing utensils, napkins and a blanket.
  • The Beach: Enjoying the sun and the sand always makes for a good dating idea. It’s even better if you live by an ocean or a large lake. Feel the romance develop as you watch the waves come in.
  • Stargazing: This dating idea can be combined with hiking or the beach, or can be part of a date that has gone really well and lasted late into the evening. If you are able to point out some constellations, your date is likely to be impressed.
  • Bike Ride: You don’t have to go anywhere special to enjoy this date, a simple ride through the neighborhood makes for a relaxing date.
  • Window Shopping: This date is free unless you decide to buy something. Take turns looking at stores that the other person wants to visit.
  • Board games or cards: Bring out your competitive side while having fun with your date. Just remember to be a good winner or loser, because if you aren’t one, you risk ruining an otherwise good date.
  • Outdoor Concert: Often times you can find a local summer concert series that is free.

Cheap Dates

These dates aren’t free, but they won’t break the bank either.

  • Museum: Spend some time together while soaking in a little culture. Museums that offer interactive exhibits are especially fun.
  • Cook together: You could surprise your date by having dinner ready when he or she arrives, but cooking dinner together is lots of fun as well.
  • Rent movies: Make it a Blockbuster or Netflix night. Watch something you’ll both enjoy or pick out two movies.
  • Mini Golf: Whether you take your putt-putt seriously or prefer to be silly on the course, you and your date are sure to have a good time.
  • Ice Skating: This is a great date even if you don’t know how to ice skate. In fact, helping your date off the ice is almost more fun than the actual skating.

Moderately Expensive Dates

  • Go to the Movies: This isn’t a good first date, but seeing a movie and talking about it afterwards still makes a good dating idea. Consider trying something a little different, such as having a movie marathon where you see three or four movies on the same day.
  • Bowling: This is another date everyone can enjoy, regardless of skill level. If you are really bad at bowling, go when they offer “bumper bowling” so that your ball will not end up in the gutter.
  • Dance Lessons: Take a dancing class together and then go out afterwards to practice your moves.
  • Play/Musical: This kind of dating idea can be very affordable if you find a play at a local college or high school, but also consider spending more to watch some professionals put on a good show.
  • Arcade/Fun Center: There are lots of activities you can do together at arcades. Besides the video games, there are usually redemption games (win tickets that you can spend), pool, air hockey, and sometimes go-karts as well.

Expensive Dates

These are dates that you won’t be able to do as often, but they worth trying out sometime.

  • Amusement Park: Hours of standing in line followed by a few minutes of sheer adrenaline. And that’s just the wait to get into the park.
  • Concert: Take your date to see a group he or she enjoys, or explore some new music together.
  • Sky Diving: Find out if you and your date are able to make the big leap.
